too many trials
no time for pleasure
infrequent smiles
so rare they’re treasured
and I ask my friends
if that’s the way it has to be
and they tell me
yes most people feel what you see
but I couldn’t be happy
living that kind of life
so I’ve got to push on
to a better life
most people know that
they’ll work all their lives
waiting for something
but it won’t arrive
and I know that too
but there’s searching I’ve got to do
to find a way to be
