I was talking to the savior
in my cab the other night
I told him I’d done wrong
but now things were headed right
he shook my hand and thanked me
said he appreciates the news
and right then and there he took my trucker’s blues

he’s the only thing that gets me thru my runs
each mile I drive he is there by my side
together I’ll bet we’ve hauled a million tons

well now I’ve been driving rigs
since I was almost seventeen
and my eyes sometimes will water
from the diesel gasoline
but I always bring my load thru safe
and he’s the reason why
and I swear we’ll drive these highways till I die

and the road it gets me down
