in these times when I try to relate to myself
with questions unanswered in my mind
people come and go inside
making answers hard to find

I hear a distracting sound
and the voices never found

people need to find what to live for
and through you I think we can see more
help us make the right interpretation
concerning ourselves and concerning our nation

people need to be shown what to love for

well, I’m one of so many looking for an answer
if each is right with himself
man will get along much better

in these times when we seek to relate to ourselves
we need something to help us hold our own
and how each sees you only he knows
give him strength so he won’t let go

we need piece of mind
through you we’ll find what we’re seeking
and then we’ll know that it’s right
soon we’ll have our piece of mind
