Babe Can You See
(Don Connors/Chuck Perrin)
babe can you see
any good in me
will you try to find
what’s going on in my mind
I’ve been gone
too long a time
searching is my game
trying to find a name
don’t you say
that you’re my friend
I’ve always lost before
you know I’ll lose again
can’t seem to find
hidden in my mind
any words to say
to keep my love away
don’t you say
that you’re my friend
I’ve always lost before
you know I’ll lose again
babe can you see
any good in me
will you try to find
what’s going on in my mind
Babe Can You See
About This Song:
One of the prizes for winning the Illinois State Fair folk music contest was a trip to Nashville to meet and record a song @ RCA Studios with Chet Atkins. He was so real and down-to-earth. He sat us down and schooled us in the financial reality of the recording business, how the performers were charged up front for everything before they ever saw any money. He had a framed check on his office wall for $2.47 that he said was royalties for having a song in the Country top 10. He did advise us to lean towards country music – he predicted it was going to be the next big thing! Anyway, this was the song we recorded in November of 1965 – our first recording!
