Accompanying Nona’s Art - 12:40pm Aug 23rd, 2022

My wife Nona is currently having an exhibit of some of her paintings from the past few years at the Pacific Beach Taylor Gallery. This is evoking some strong memories because it was during those quiet years of quarantine and hibernation that we started working together in earnest, each in our separate spaces. She would paint what kept her sane, and I would check out what she was doing and try to compose a song, a musical complement, if you will, to her vibrant visual stories. Somehow what we created connected us and kept us both on a positive track through those mad times. Now we can look back, reminisce, and sort of enjoy that frazzling span.
Yes, I think I might be coming out of my post pandemic haze, slowly sneaking up on reality, warily circling the songs I’ve written and the recordings I’ve made these past 5 years – wondering what they mean and slowly remembering how they fit together.
The good news is I’m happy to be alive and still kicking it down the road.
