Ceremony
(Edward Sheehy)
just the other day crossing the Atlantic
we forgot to pay bread to the lord
man overboard
funny how the time passes by so slowly
thinking of a rhyme
I sit and stare
your turn declare
you don’t understand half the words I offer
if I touch your hand
with no disguise
you turn your eyes
running out of wine
we’ve been gone a month now
better drop a line
fish while we can
soon we’ll hit land
knowing that you’re tired
I will row till morning
build yourself a fire
when we hit land
I’ll clap my hands
