Let’s Stay Together
(written by Al Green/Willie Mitchell – adapted by Chuck Perrin)
hey, sweet little girl
I’m so glad we’re together tonight
because I’m so in love with you
what ever you want to do is all right with me
you make me feel so brand new
and I want to spend my whole life just loving you
let me say it seems since we’ve been together
loving you forever is all that I need
let me be the one you come running to
cause you don’t have to worry
I’ll never, ever, ever be untrue
baby, please, let’s stay together
I’m gonna love you whether times are good or bad
happy or sad
tell me why, why some people break up
then turn around and make up
I just can’t see
you’d never do that to me, would you, baby?
cause staying right around you is all I need
here’s what I want us to do
let’s – we got to stay together
cause I’m gonna love you whether
wherever
times are good or bad
happy or sad
come on darlin’ – let’s groove
Let’s Stay Together
About This Song:
There is no way anyone can compete with Al Green‘s definitive treatment of his own song – it’s a near perfect pop record. But I loved the song’s sentiments and vibe, so I just decided to try to give it my own spin. Nevertheless, it was a daunting experience! Great guitar work by Brian Price and a nice Moog solo from Rob Whitlock.
