in these garish grim distorted times
while our tender but tenacious Earth
is ravaged and depleted around us
while Western winds whip wild with frustration
and the seemingly ever present sun
swelters sears and blears
we soldier ahead each day anew
on the hunt for harmony
longing for fraternity
in a struggle to stay focused
when every pair of eyes you meet
looks right through you
dazed and overwhelmed

how did fear work it’s way inside our DNA?
we have let it take away our hunger
our freedom
our sense of self
can we fight to bring back
our humanity . . .
will we bother?
