Silhouettes

I love the gorgeous sunset sky displays
that we’ve been blessed with lately
at the tip of these little shorty winter days
rich red shades
refracted and sucked to atmospheric paleness
as they inch and vanish into the offing

but my favorite time is
just after
when the sky is barely blue
and the silhouettes of landscape
stand out solid black,
b a c k l i t
and instantly recognizable

something about this is comforting
existence charges ahead with reckless abandon
changing so fast
that it’s often difficult to keep up
with the choices that must be made

a little something
black and white
at the end of a challenging day
is
